New Product Development

“I have an idea, not a product.”

Generated image: Gloved hands roll a small date, oat and sesame bite beside a row of finished bites and small dishes of dates, oats and sesame.

What I do

I turn your concept into a working formula: ingredients, prototypes and rounds of trials until the taste, texture and nutrition are right.

What you receive

  • A first look at your concept and what it will take
  • Prototype samples to taste and compare
  • A record of each iteration and what changed
  • The final formula and guidance for the next step

Who it's for

Founders with an idea (company or not yet), food brands adding a product, and restaurants creating a signature item.

  • Pawpots · Pet food

    Ice cream for pets

Dessert appeal on a pet-safe base, balanced to AAFCO / NRC 2006.

4 concepts → 2 SKUs Status: In development

  • EZ Whey · Dairy

    High‑protein Greek yogurt drink

Keep it smooth and full of flavour at a high protein load.

Up to 28 g protein per bottle Status: Formula delivered

Reformulation & Fixes

“My product's taste, texture or cost isn't right.”

Generated image: A gloved hand lifts a silky ribbon of chocolate pudding on a steel spatula, next to a grainier version of the same pudding.

What I do

I find what is causing the problem, then change the formula: more protein, less sugar, a cleaner label, a lower cost, or a fix for a product that fails.

What you receive

  • An assessment of your current product
  • A trial plan agreed with you
  • Revised samples to compare with the original
  • Observations and recommendations from the trials

Who it's for

Food brands and manufacturers with a product on the market or close to launch.

  • Confidential · Dry mix

    Cake mix optimisation

    The cake collapsed after baking.

    Collapse fixed Status: Reformulated

  • Triple World · Beverage

Triple V Iced Coffee & Mocha

Rich flavour within a tight cost target.

Reverse Engineering

“I want to match a product on the market.”

Generated image: Two croissants cut open side by side on a dark bench; a gloved hand holds one half to compare its layers with the other.

What I do

I rebuild its taste, texture and look through repeated side-by-side trials, until your version matches.

What you receive

  • A side-by-side study of the target product
  • Trial samples compared against it
  • The matched formula
  • Notes for making it in your kitchen or with your manufacturer

Who it's for

Restaurants and fast-food chains, and brands that want their own version of a product people already know.

Shelf Life & Stability

“My product goes stale, rancid or separates too soon.”

Generated image: A gloved hand lifts a sealed glass jar of dried apricot halves from a shelf of identical jars kept for storage checks.

What I do

I find the weak point, then fix it through the formula, antioxidants and packaging.

What you receive

  • A diagnosis of what fails first, and why
  • Formula and packaging changes
  • A storage test plan
  • Recommendations from the results

Scale-Up & Factory Transfer

“It works in the kitchen, not in the factory.”

Generated image: A gloved hand catches a sample of thick tomato sauce from the valve of a stainless-steel mixing vessel.

What I do

I write the factory process and support trials with your manufacturer, so the product comes out the same at scale.

What you receive

  • A written factory process (SOP)
  • Support during trials with your manufacturer
  • Adjustments based on what the trials show
  • A handover your team can run

Who it's for

Brands moving to a co-packer or their own line, and manufacturers bringing in a new product.

Process

How a project runs

Every project starts with a conversation. Not every project needs all six steps.

Generated image: Six glass dishes in a row on a dark bench, from dry powders to a finished set dessert: one product taking shape step by step.
  1. Discovery & brief

We talk about your product, your goal and where you are now, then agree the brief.

  2. Assessment

I look at what the product needs and what is possible, before any formulation work.

  3. Formulation & prototypes

I build the formula and make samples, then refine them with you in rounds.

  4. Testing & shelf life

Samples are checked against the brief, including how they hold over time.

  5. Scale-up with your manufacturer

I write the factory process and support trials with your manufacturer.

  6. Market readiness

You receive the final formula and a clear handover, ready for your launch steps.

For manufacturers

I work with your team and your factory. Your formula stays yours.

Generated image: Two gloved hands, one in a lab-coat sleeve and one in a work-jacket sleeve, pass a small steel sample cup across a steel table in a production plant.
  • Will you keep our formula private?

Yes. You can ask for an NDA before you share any details about your product.

  • Can you work with our R&D team?

Yes. I work alongside your R&D and production teams.

  • Do we get the process in writing?

Yes. You get a written factory process your team can run. ProPop received a full SOP for factory transfer.

  • Which standards do you work to?

Your market's rules and your product specs. Pet food, for example, is balanced to AAFCO / NRC 2006.
